Depending on the complexity and nature of the legal services provided, an agreement is made between the client and the attorney on the amount of the attorney’s fee (or a method of determination thereof).

Unless otherwise agreed with the client, legal services are provided at prices stipulated in the Decree No. 177/1996 Coll. of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic (On Lawyers’ Fees).

An individual agreement usually consists of determining an hourly rate or a flat rate (i.e., the final amount for resolving the whole legal issue, e.g. performing due diligence) or a monthly flat rate/percentage in case of long-term cooperation (for example, when representing the client in inheritance proceedings).

In case of a cooperation agreement with new clients, a deposit is usually charged for legal services.
